SBI allows the change or update of nominee details in single or joint accounts as well as accounts of a single owner. Some customers need to modify the nominee for their savings, deposit, and other accounts. Those who need to change can update online and offline using the State Bank of India ecosystem.
Every account holder may need to change the nominee for personal or other reasons. All banks also allow account holders to do this by filling out Form DA3 at the time of account opening.
The account holder can make changes or cancel the nominees at any time during the account’s validity. You can also nominate a minor, If a minor is named as a nominee, the guardian (an adult) must also be mentioned.
How to Change Nominee through Online SBI
- First, open the SBI Net Banking Portal and log in using your account’s Username and Password at https://onlinesbi.sbi.
- Then, from the account dashboard, choose ‘Requests & Enquiries‘ from the menu.
- On the new page, choose the ‘Online Nomination‘ option.
- Next, select the ‘Cancel Nomination‘ option and then choose the saving or deposit account from the list.
- Click the “I accept the terms and conditions” button on the following screen, then click the ‘Submit‘ option.
- Verify with the OTP and click the ‘Confirm‘ button.
- Depending on when you submitted, you will now read ‘Nomination is scheduled for cancellation‘ OR ‘your nomination is cancelled‘.
- Wait till the current nominee is cancelled. You can’t change the nominee in the SBI account till then.
How to Change Nominee through SBI YONO Lite
Install the State Bank Of India YONO mobile banking app. Please follow the steps below to add a nominee to the State Bank Of India Account.
- Sign in to the SBI YONO Lite app using MPIN or Biometrics.
- Select ‘Online Nomination‘ from the ‘Services‘ menu.
- Select the account type and number you want to unregister a nominee.
- Tap on the Nominee and proceed with ‘Cancel‘
- Then, confirm the details and click ‘Submit‘ to finish the registration.
- Register New Nominee in SBI Account
- After cancelling the nominee, proceed to the Register option.
- Afterwards, choose an account number (saving or deposit).
- Provide the nominee’s name, relationship to the account holder, address etc.
- Verify with OTP and click Confirm.
- We’ll add the new nominee to your SBI account.

How to Change or Update Nominee Details at SBI Branch
- Visit the nearby State Bank Of India Branch. We recommend visiting the home branch of the Savings or Fixed Deposit account.
- Request the helpdesk officer to change or update the Nominee details of the account.
- They will give you from DA 3 the chance to submit and fill out the request form with complete details of the account and the nominee.
- Once Form DA 3 is submitted, the bank will update it within 2 to 5 working days.
