Later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi renamed the scheme the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. To apply for this scheme, visit the official website pmsuryaghar.gov.in and register for rooftop solar.
You are advised to apply as soon as possible to receive the benefits of this scheme. The government has allocated Rs. 75 thousand crores for this scheme, providing free electricity to 300 crore houses nationwide.
This scheme aims to expand the use of solar electricity and provide relief to the middle class.
How to Register for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana 2024
- To begin with, you need to register your name on the pmsuryaghar.gov.in portal.
- To proceed, you will need to choose your state and the name of your electricity supplier company.
- Enter your electricity connection consumer number, mobile number, and email ID to register for rooftop solar on the portal.
- Complete the application and wait for approval from your DISCOM. After getting the permission, install the solar plant using registered vendors.
- Once the installation is complete, the details of the plant must be submitted on the portal, and an application for a net meter should be made. After installing the net meter, DISCOM officials will conduct checks. Once the checks are done, a commissioning certificate will be issued via the portal.
- After receiving this report, you can submit the cancelled check and your bank account details on the portal. The subsidy will be credited to your account within 30 days.
