SBI card users are in for a surprise as a new rule comes into effect from June 1. SBI Card, a State Bank of India subsidiary, has announced that it will no longer offer reward points for government transactions on 47 types of credit cards. Only some card users will earn reward points on government-related transactions issued by SBI Card.

The affected cards include AURUM, SBI Card Lite, SBI Card Plus, Simply Click SBI Card, SBI Card Prime, SBI Card Platinum, Gold SBI Card, Simply Save SBI Card, Krishak Unnathi SBI Card, SIB SBI Platinum Card, KVB SBI Card, Karnataka Bank SBI Platinum Card, Allahabad Bank SBI Cards, City Union Bank SBI Cards, Central Bank SBI Cards, UCO Bank SBI Cards, and PSB SBI Cards.

SBI Card has stated on its official website that this new rule will be effective June 1, 2024. The new rule means that reward points will no longer be given for government-related payments. SBI Card has revealed that government transactions will be considered under merchant category codes 9399 and 9311.

Removing reward points on government transactions could disappoint SBI credit card users. SBI Card has adopted a new rule that will no longer give reward points for special transactions. The company has stated that it will no longer receive reward points for government transactions.
